Shri Mohammad Israil Mansuri was born on May 10, 1976, in Mithirapur village of
Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. Currently, he serves as the Minister of Information and
Technology in the Bihar Government and the Member of the Legislative Assembly
(MLA) from the Kanti constituency. The initiation of his political life began with
student politics in school and college. He joined politics formally during the 1990s
when he was pursuing his higher secondary education. Inspired by the ideologies of
former Prime Minister Shri V.P. Singh and the most popular leader from Bihar, the
contemporary Chief Minister Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav, he started participating in
social activities, raising his voice against discrimination and oppression
Active participation in social work, continuous involvement in helping people,
outspokenness against injustice and oppression made him quite popular in his field.
As a result, he regularly received invitations to join various political parties and social
organizations. Consequently, on August 19, 1995, he accepted the membership of
the Janata Dal and was appointed as the Youth President of the Janata Dal in his
panchayat. During that period, the government was led by Shreemati Rabri Devi ji
and Shree Laloo Prasad Yadav ji, and since the government belonged to his party,
developmental activities began to take place in the region according to the needs of
the people. Basic necessities such as roads, electricity, water, etc., started being
fulfilled, elevating his stature and prestige over time.
Moving forward, during 2010, Shri Mohammad Israil Mansuri won the by-elections
with a significant number of votes, becoming the elected head of the Gram
Panchayat following the untimely demise of the then Mukhiya, Shri Pramod Thakur.
From 2001 to 2005, he served as the Mukhiya for five years in the Patahi Gram
Panchayat. During this period, he initiated various welfare activities for the people,
including arrangements for housing under the Indira Awas Yojana, providing
pensions for the elderly, repairing damaged roads, and facilitating healthcare for the
poor.
From there he never looked back. In 2004, during the Lok Sabha elections,
representing the Janata Dal (United) from the Muzaffarpur Lok Sabha constituency,
Shri Mohammad Israil Mansuri joined the party in the presence of the then Railway
Minister, Shri Nitish Kumar. He continued his dedicated service within the Janata Dal
(United) for 13 years, working closely with the current Chief Minister, Shri Nitish
Kumar. After working closely with Chief Minister Shri Nitish Kumar for a long period,
he returned to the Rashtriya Janata Dal in 2017. This marked his homecoming to the
party, and he secured primary membership in the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
In 2017, after accepting the membership of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, responsibilities
for various districts and assembly constituencies were assigned to him. He handled
these responsibilities with complete dedication and sincerity. During this period,
without compromising on his social responsibilities, he actively participated in
political activities and social initiatives. As a result, in the Assembly elections held in
December 2020, the party nominated him as the candidate for the Rashtriya Janata
Dal from the Kanti constituency.
With unwavering dedication and hard work, he contested the election and defeated
the independent candidate and former minister Ajit Kumar with 10,314 votes on
November 10, 2020, becoming the elected representative for the Kanti constituency.
In a significant political event in August 2023, under the leadership of Chief Minister
Nitish Kumar, the Janata Dal (United) withdrew its support from the BJP-JD(U)
government. Subsequently, with the support of the Rashtriya Janata Dal, a new
government was formed, leading to the appointment of Mohammad Israil Mansuri as
the Minister of Information Technology in the Bihar government. He took the oath of
office on August 10, 2022.
Personal Life
Mohammad Israil Mansuri was born on May 10, 1976, in the small village of Mithirpur
in the district of Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He was born into the household of Mohammad
Usman Sahab, who worked as a farmer, and the family's main source of income was
agriculture. Among four brothers and two sisters, Mohammad Israil Mansuri was the
fourth child. From childhood, he displayed intelligence and hardworking traits. His
interests included playing cricket and helping the poor and needy people, and his
inclination towards helping others became a defining aspect of his personality,
leading him to achieve new heights.
His early education took place in government primary and middle schools in Patahi.
For his 10th-grade education, he enrolled at Navrashtra Higher Secondary School,
Patahi, and in 1992, he successfully cleared the Bihar Board Examination for Class
10. At that time, he secured the top position in the entire school by scoring 82 marks
in mathematics. Due to his interest and better understanding of mathematics, he
pursued intermediate education in science (mathematics) at Nitishwar Singh
College, Muzaffarpur, where he excelled in the intermediate examination.
Given the family responsibilities of taking care of two elder sisters, two younger
brothers, managing his father's agricultural work, and assisting in his elder brother's
grocery store, he faced financial challenges. Consequently, after enrolling in
Nitishwar Singh College for his graduation, he had to discontinue his studies in the
first year to support his family.
The period from 1995 to 2000 was a significant struggle for him. During this time, he
had to actively participate in his elder brother's grocery store, facing both the
challenges of managing the business and engaging in social activities. His interest in
social work gained him popularity at the local level, attracting the attention of several
political parties and social organizations. In the backdrop of the prevailing
government led by Lalu Prasad Yadav in Bihar, who was immensely popular at that
time, various political parties and social groups made efforts to bring him into their
fold. It was during this period that he joined active politics in 1995, becoming an
initial member of the Janata Dal.
While managing family and social responsibilities, a crucial moment in his life arrived
when he got married to Zubeida Khatoon, the daughter of Janab Ainul Haq, on
March 31, 1997, in Paroo-Jafrapur. Today, his family includes a daughter, Neha
Tarnnum, and two sons, Mohammad Aman Mansuri and Mohammad Zeeshan
Mansuri.
